Introduction & Applications
Propylene carbonate is a colorless odorless, flammable transparent liquid, melting point -49 ° C, boiling point 240-243 ° C, refractive index 1.4189 (20 ° C), specific gravity, 1.2, viscosity 2. SmPa. s, flash point 152 ° C, miscible with ether, acetone, benzene, ethyl acetate, soluble in water and carbon tetrachloride, It is an excellent polar solvent.
It is used in the electronics industry for the production of lithium battery and capacitor electrolytes as plasticizers, spinning solvents, water-soluble fuels and dispersants for plastics. It is also used to remove carbon dioxide from petroleum gas, petroleum cracking gas, oil field gas and synthetic ammonia feedstock gas, and is used to synthesize dimethyl carbonate.
