Introduction & Applications
Camphor synthetic is white crystalline powder or colorless translucent nugget, can be milled to fine powder with a little ethanol, chloroform or ether; irritant odor; it tastes pungent at first and cool later; volatile in room temperature; produce black smoke and flame with light when burned. Well soluble in chloroform, easily soluble in ethanol, ether, fatty oil or volatile oil, slightly soluble in water.
Mainly used as pharmaceutical raw materials like skin irritant drug and sodium camphorsulfonate. Used as plasticizer for the manufacture of celluloid and other plastic products if necessary for in plastics industry. Used as stabilizer and moderator of smokeless powder in national defense; used as pesticide etc in agriculture, used as moth proofing agent for clothes as camphor pills and balls, and also be used as raw materials for daily care products, flavor and fragrance.
